Brouchaud 2007
At the end of May in 2007 a group of about 20 choir members and partners travelled to the Perigord region for a singing course led by Andy. The workshops were held at the Salle des Fetes in the tiny hamlet of Brouchaud where Ros and Les have a second home.
The weather was cold but spirits were high as we set about the French themed music. Nonie took the solo in 'Non, je ne regrette rien' and the rest of us tried to get our 'nons' right. We tried to sing the Jacques Brel number as if we had been smoking Gitanes all our lives and the Beaujolais round as if we had intimate knowledge of all the wines and spirits listed. A local choir singing in the region's Occitan language joined us for an evening of food and song and our own social evening proved once again that the Scratch choir has a wealth of other talents besides singing.
In the afternoons there was time to walk in the woods and by the flower filled meadows of the hamlet, to visit the caves at Lascaux, the prehistoric museum of Le Thot, the chateau at Hautefort and the pretty towns in the area. We had truly wonderful hospitality at a local Auberge on the last evening and repayed our hosts with a selection from the repertoire.
